In Defense of Conspiracy Theories

It is easy to see a project like SGC or 40+&Fit and think that is a one-man show. However, there are many people in the background who help to make the operation run. As with all my media adventures, the behind-the-scenes people work very hard to make me look good. Without them there is no product. I am blessed to have them.

Over the last ten years of doing everything from weekly newspapers, to internet radio shows, and websites, the concept of Conspiracy Theories always come up and it is always the same discussion, “How far do we go?” As for me personally, I will admit I have always been a Conspiracy Theorist, but with a “questioning of everything” attitude. I know waiting for the government or the mainstream media (MSM) to inform me of anything is a waste of time.

There is also the “you don’t want to lose creditability” argument. But, as I grow older, I understand that chasing creditability is like trying to catch a greased pig. It is a lot harder than it looks. One man’s lunatic is another man’s guru and trying to understand that is a hopeless concept. Each person must follow their own path and those who follow, follow, and those who don’t, won’t. Looking for the magical credibility ghost is a waste of time.

One problem with conspiracy theories, however, are that they are all lumped together, so if someone believes that Elvis and Big Foot are riding together in a UFO, they are lumped together with people who believe that Oswald did not kill Kennedy alone. (That is me.) I believe that this is done to discredit anyone who does not go along with the “official” story. Just say “conspiracy theory” and some people’s sphincter contracts physically and mentally. Who wants to be seen as crazy? (Well, I do.)

The other interesting concept about conspiracy theories is that for them to exist, they have to be a “real” truth. There must be something that is not a conspiracy theory, an honest counter fact. And this, my friend, is where it all gets hazy—very, very hazy. It is not enough to intellectually tell me something is false. You have to tell me what is true and saying “well, it is what the media and the government is saying” is not impressive. Also, claiming something is “science” when you don’t know what science is, also sounds ignorant.

So, here are some things for all of us to chew on from the video, “Top 10 Conspiracy Theories That Turned Out To Be TRUE”

https://youtu.be/58mhPaUL3Uc

  1. Project MK-Ultra – The CIA and LSD Mind Control (Can you say Unabomber)
  2. Operation Paperclip – Those three women in the movie were not as hidden as that roomful of Nazis who helped send America to the moon.
  3. CIA Drug Traffic – Say it ain’t so, Joe.
  4. Operation Northwoods – False Flags for everyone
  5. The NSA spying on us – No way
  6. COINTELPRO – Lets get the hippies
  7. Operation Snow White – Church of Scientology vs. USA
  8. Guatemala Syphilis Study – Man, I hate those evil governments. Also check the Tuskegee Syphilis Study
  9. Gulf of Tonkin and the Vietnam War – Jim Morrison’s dad was there…People are Strange!
  10. Operation Mockingbird – In the 1950s, the CIA launched a secret campaign to control the media, recruiting top journalists so they would have power over the New York Times, CBS, and Newsweek. No way that could happen today.

In addition, Kennedy was more than likely killed like Lincoln – in a conspiracy, the CIA’s Secret Heart Attack Gun and other craziness and you can see that information has been distorted for a long time. And some wonder why people don’t trust the media or the government.

As a matter of fact, with so much craziness out there I almost have trouble respecting people who get all their information from MSM or the government.  I hate to say that, but it is true.  I trust the lovers of Big Foot more than I do the MSM.  But they have earned my distrust.

I think of two concepts that drive me when I consider today’s situation:

Socrates: “I know that I know nothing” from the Death of Socrates. Socrates knew his understanding came from acknowledging that he knew he knew little, so he was always open to learn. The next is, “None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.” (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe) Self-awareness is the key to freedom. Every time someone mentions your freedom, challenge him or her to explain. Freedom is for those who know how to be free.

In closing, I have to end with this. The dude who believes Big Foot and Elvis eat at the Burger King in Tupelo, Mississippi never got in the way of my freedom. I cannot say that about the talking heads on TV crying about conspiracies.  It is something to think about.
